The purpose of my job role is:
To provide scientific and technical support for EEG research and services, working closely with the Senior Scientific Director to maintain, expand, and innovate EEG capabilities across the organization. The EEG Scientist will contribute to experimental design, data analysis, and operational delivery, ensuring high standards and collaborative progress in EEG-related projects..
My main duties are:
Scientific Support & Innovation
* Assist in the design, execution, and analysis of EEG studies in rodents (and other species as required).
* Support the Senior Scientific Director in developing new EEG methodologies, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing innovative approaches.
* Contribute to the maintenance and expansion of EEG services, including sleep, seizure liability, pharmacology, and disease models.
Operational Delivery
* Run pharmaco-EEG studies in rodents
* Coordinate with the Senior Scientific Director and other team members to ensure efficient scheduling and delivery of EEG studies.
* Preparation of study protocols, data collection, and report writing.
* Contribute to process improvement and capacity maximization across sites.
Data Analysis & Interpretation
* Perform high-quality EEG data analysis using preferred tools and pipelines.
* Interpret results and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
* Ensure scientific validity and integrity in all research outputs.
Collaboration & Communication
* Communicate effectively with key stakeholders, including internal teams and external clients, to foster collaboration and deliver project goals.
* Present findings and updates in meetings, and contribute to harmonizing procedures and documentation across sites.
* Participate in monthly EEG all-hands meetings and other cross-site collaborations.
Training & Technical Support
* Train and validate staff in EEG research tools, technologies, and techniques.
* Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support for EEG hardware, software, and experimental setups.
Continuous Development
* Stay current with advances in EEG research, technology, and analysis methods.
* Proactively identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in EEG services.
Required Skills & Experience
* Degree in neuroscience, physiology, biomedical sciences, or related field; postgraduate qualification preferred.
* Hands-on experience of handling and dosing animals for EEG recording and analysis in preclinical models.
* Familiarity with EEG hardware (e.g. DSI, EMKA, TaiNi) and software platforms.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and support training initiatives.
* Experience in scientific report writing and presentation.
Desirable Attributes
* Agility in adapting to changing commercial project needs and business objectives.
* Experience with sleep, seizure, pharmacology, or disease-model EEG studies.
* Knowledge of advanced EEG analysis techniques (e.g., coherence, phase-amplitude coupling).
