Maintenance Engineer – Electrical or Mechanical bias

A leading food manufacturer is seeking to appoint a talented Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to maintain plant and machinery, ensuring breakdowns are quickly attended to and expected levels of uptime are achieved, enabling the production plan to be delivered and business objectives met. This business has invested heavily to create a modern Factory and welcoming environment where staff turnover is low, and employees are valued.
This role would suit a resourceful Maintenance Engineer, able to work under minimal supervision. An Engineer who is confident making decisions would thrive in this environment. The management team is extremely supportive and will ensure the Engineer selected is given everything they need to succeed. The Maintenance Engineer will spend an initial period working closely with another Engineer to familiarize themselves with the machinery and equipment.
This role may appeal to an Engineer who has worked for a FMCG / Food Manufacturer, or perhaps another sector of manufacturing such as Automotive, Aerospace, Packaging, Consumer Products, Pharmaceutical, Personal Care, Chemicals. The type of machinery to be maintained and serviced may include: Tray Sealers, Check Weighers, Mixers, Depositors, Case Erectors, Labelers, Metal Detection, Flow Wrappers, Conveyors, Packaging Machinery, Robotic Pick and Place, Thermoformers, Extruders, Baggers, Silo's, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Gear boxes, Mechanical Transmissions, Drive Belts, Chains, Compressors, Pumps, Control Circuits.
The Engineer will be responsible for:
* Conducting Planned, Preventative and Reactive Maintenance (Electrical and Mechanical);
* Scheduling Preventative Maintenance tasks;
* Recording all maintenance activities on a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS);
* Carrying out time-critical repairs within a high-speed manufacturing environment;
* Fault Finding across both Electrical and Mechanical plant and elimination of cause of issues;
* Fault Finding on PLC’s;
* Involvement in small CAPEX projects, including new machinery installations and automation projects;
* involvement with Continuous Improvement activities aimed at improving machine utilisation and Factory performance;
* Delivering Key Performance Indicators, such as cost, time, damage, defects, downtime, PPM completion rate, and quality;
* Maintaining accurate records and ensure Engineering stores has availability of parts to conduct routine maintenance and breakdown workt;
* Working to stringent standards including: BRC / Retailer / GMP / Company standards;
* Escalation of any serious issues to the appropriate Head of Department.
Requirements:
* Maintenance Engineering experience gained from within a Manufacturing/Process environment.
* Good understanding of both Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
* Time-served apprentice trained or Engineering degree qualified.
* ONC / NVQ level 3 in an Engineering discipline.
