What you will be doing.
As our Senior Naval Architect, you'll be an integral part of our Marine Design Team. Your primary focus will be to shape the future of ship design, working on ship concept and basic design for various vessel types. But that's just the beginning; your role encompasses a wide array of responsibilities:
* Create specs, drawings, and calculations at various project stages.
* Lead basic design projects for complete vessels.
* Conduct detailed design for vessel alterations and upgrades.
* Cultivate client relationships, offer consultancy, and communicate directly with customers.
* Manage, oversee, or participate in project teams as needed.
* Responsively handle inquiries and manage existing client relationships.
* Support and participate in tendering efforts.
* Promote the business, develop new clients, and uphold high standards of professionalism.
* Manage project planning and invoicing.
* Identify training needs for professional development and support team engineers.
* Adhere to internal policies, procedures, and guidelines.
* Follow HSEQ management system requirements.
Specific Requirements-
* Willingness to travel to undertake marketing and client activities.
The role is ideally based in Hampshire ; but other UK locations (Exeter, Newcastle, London, Dundee) may be considered for the right candidate. The incumbent will have the right to work and reside in the United Kingdom .

Essential-
* Hold a relevant Bachelor's degree.
* Possess 5 years' marine industry experience, including conceptual and basic design across various vessel types.
* Have comprehensive knowledge of Statutory and Class Rules and can apply the latest standards to analytical methods.
* Exhibit expertise in ship design, covering hullform, stability, structures, and marine systems.
* Are proficient in AutoCAD and computer literate.
* Hold a relevant Master's degree or equivalent.
* Full membership in a professional institution or Chartered Engineer status.
* Bring shipyard experience to the table.
* Knowledgeable about various vessel technologies like alternative fuels and emissions reduction.
* Experienced in technical oversight or team management.
* Familiar with Maxsurf, GHS, NavCAD, and 3D Shipbuilding Design Package.
* Possess existing relationships with ship owners, shipyards, and brokers.
