Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for individuals to join our friendly and professional team within the Operating Theatre Department as a PACU / Theatre Support Worker. We cover a number of different specialities including General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gynae and Obstetrics, ENT, maxillofacial, Breast, Urology and Ophthalmic.
You will have, or be willing to work towards, completion of the Care Certificate & also must complete within an 18 month period, QCF Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care. This training, if required, will enable you to assist with the preparation and cleanliness of the theatre environment for both surgery and anaesthetics, providing care to the patients throughout their journey in the operating theatre and enable you to support staff at all levels.
Good communication skills are essential.
Candidates must possess GCSE Maths and English at Grades A to C or 4-9 OR Functional Skills Level 2 in both Maths and English. You must be able to present original certificates for these if you are selected for interview.
Main duties of the job
As part of the multidisciplinary team within the Operating Department the post holder will play a vital role in the day to day operation and smooth running of the department. They will accomplish this with the provision of the highest possible standards of individualised patient care, housekeeping, portering and circulating duties. As part of their training package all post holders will be required to complete the QCF Level 2 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support which will enable them to meet the nationally recognised standards of competence for support workers.
