Overview
An exciting opportunity to gain a qualification while supporting people with a range of complex and challenging conditions. You will learn to support people who present with behaviours that challenge, understand risk, and create a positive and safe environment for patients who require additional support during their stay in hospital. The Enhanced Care Team will recruit 17 Apprentice Enhanced Care Support Workers and Enhanced Care Support Workers to provide an enhanced level of care to patients with behaviours that challenge or those at high risk of absconding. The role is a key part of the nursing team, offering compassionate care to patients, carers, and relatives at the Trust.
You will undertake a training programme to achieve a Clinical Support Worker apprenticeship over a maximum of 16 months.
Responsibilities
* Work under the direction of a qualified member of staff to ensure the safe and skilled delivery of a range of clinical tasks.
* Provide an enhanced level of care to patients with behaviours that challenge or at high risk of absconding.
* Learn and apply distraction and diversion techniques and contribute to creating a safe, respectful environment for patients.
* Maintain professional appearance and build positive, respectful relationships with staff, patients, and families.
* Protect privacy, dignity, and confidentiality, ensuring equality and diversity are respected in all work.
* Allocate 20% of contracted hours (up to 6 hours per week) as protected time for study, learning, shadowing, and relevant courses.
Qualifications/Requirements
* Apprenticeship pathway: Clinical Support Worker apprenticeship (maximum 16 months).
* Minimum of 30 hours per week, with protected study time as specified above.
* Commitment to professional conduct and continuous learning in a healthcare setting.
