Apex Systems is a global IT services provider and our staffing practice has an opening for an On-Prem Active Directory Specialist to place at our client, a top Canadian Bank.

Pay Rate: $60-$70 (T4 employee)

About The Role
We are seeking an experienced On-Prem Active Directory Specialist to join our client, a top Canadian Bank. This role requires deep technical expertise in Active Directory architecture and administration. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can take ownership of work streams, plan and drive implementations independently, and make strategic recommendations. You will work closely with peers and senior leadership (up to Sr. Director level) to ensure secure and efficient identity management.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, implement, and maintain On-Prem Active Directory infrastructure.
* Lead initiatives to strengthen security and governance within AD environments.
* Plan and drive implementation of assigned work streams without direct supervision.
* Develop and optimize processes for provisioning and deprovisioning AD objects (users, groups, roles) with full lifecycle considerations.
* Implement best practices for AD security, including Group Policy, permissions, and privileged account management.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate AD with enterprise systems and applications.
* Provide guidance on migration strategies and coexistence with cloud identity solutions (e.g., Entra ID).
Required Skills & Expertise
* In-depth knowledge of On-Prem Active Directory, its components, and architecture.
* Expertise in:
o Domain controllers, replication, and DNS integration.
o Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and security hardening.
o Privileged access management and role-based access control.
o AD automation and lifecycle management.
* Ability to take ownership of work streams and deliver results independently.
* Strong communication skills; comfortable presenting to senior management.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with Quest ActiveRoles and ServiceNow integration.
* Familiarity with enterprise security and identity governance best practices.
* Knowledge of hybrid identity environments (AD + Entra ID).
