Help shape the future of recovery in Scotland
Recovery Coaching Scotland is seeking an experienced, values-driven Head of Operations to help strengthen and stabilise our organisation at a pivotal stage of growth.
We are a lived experience-led organisation supporting people affected by alcohol and drugs to build and sustain recovery across prisons and communities throughout Scotland. Our approach is relational, trauma-informed, and grounded in the belief that recovery is possible for everyone.
As we continue to grow, this role will play a key part in bringing structure, coordination, and consistency to how we operate—supporting our staff, strengthening systems, and helping build a sustainable future.
About the role
This is a strategic operational role, not frontline delivery. You will focus on:
* Strengthening day-to-day organisational operations
* Coordinating and supporting staff across multiple locations
* Embedding consistent systems for quality, safeguarding, and communication
* Improving data collection, impact measurement, and reporting
* Supporting the transition from reactive delivery to planned, sustainable development
You will work closely with the CEO and help shape the organisation’s development over the next two years.
Key responsibilities
* Provide operational oversight across community, justice, and prison-based services
* Support staff through effective supervision systems and workload coordination
* Embed quality assurance, safeguarding, and risk management processes
* Strengthen monitoring, evaluation, and reporting systems
* Support partnerships with NHS, ADPs, Justice Social Work, and third-sector organisations
* Contribute to organisational planning, development, and long-term sustainability
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone organised, grounded, and able to bring structure to a growing organisation.
* Experience in operations, service management, or coordination
* Experience supporting or managing teams
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
* Ability to develop systems and improve processes
* Experience working in partnership across organisations
* Lived experience of recovery
* Experience in substance use, mental health, or justice settings
* Experience with monitoring, evaluation, or funder reporting
Who you are
* Values-driven and aligned with a lived experience approach
* Calm and capable in complex environments
* Practical and solution-focused
* Able to balance flexibility with structure
* Committed to dignity, respect, and inclusion
Why this role matters
This role is central to the future of Recovery Coaching Scotland. It will help us:
* Strengthen the quality and consistency of our work
* Better support our staff and peer workforce
* Improve how we evidence impact
* Build a more sustainable and resilient organisation
If you’re looking for a role where you can make a meaningful difference at both operational and strategic levels, we’d love to hear from you.
