Engineering Internship – Naval & Submarine Systems
12-Week Internship | £24,300 (pro rata) | Scotstoun or Barrow | June 2026 Start
Get hands-on with real engineering. From day one.
This is a 12-week paid engineering internship for undergraduates who want exposure to complex, large-scale engineering projects within the aerospace and defence sector.
You'll work alongside experienced engineers on live programmes, gaining insight into how advanced naval and submarine systems are designed, developed and delivered — from early concept through to build support and commissioning.
The role
As an Engineering Intern, you'll rotate across specialist teams within a highly technical department, contributing to real project work rather than just observing.
Depending on the team, you may be involved in:
* Weight engineering and stability analysis
* Hydrostatics and fluid dynamics
* Manoeuvring, control and performance modelling
* Infrastructure and in-build support
* Seamanship, outfit and design development
* Supporting different stages of the submarine lifecycle, from concept design to commissioning
You'll gain exposure to both theoretical and applied engineering, combining analysis, design and problem-solving in a real-world environment.
