Senior to Principal Sustainability Consultant

Overview
We are looking for a Senior to Principal Sustainability Consultant to work with clients ranging from local authorities to major developers. You’ll lead the development of energy and carbon strategies, contribute to planning applications and masterplans, and advise on sustainable design from concept to delivery. This is a client-facing role that requires expertise in environmental design, building performance modelling, and UK planning policy, particularly GLA requirements.
Responsibilities
* Lead the development of energy and carbon strategies for projects.
* Contribute to planning applications and masterplans.
* Advise on sustainable design from concept to delivery.
* Engage with clients, manage project delivery, and provide technical leadership in environmental design and modelling.
* Apply knowledge of building performance modelling (IES, Radiance, ApacheSIM) and UK planning policy.
* Support wider sustainability topics such as whole-life carbon and climate risk where appropriate.
Qualifications
* A relevant degree (BEng (Hons) or BSc (Hons) or equivalent/higher).
* Proven experience as a Sustainability Consultant with project delivery, client engagement, and project management experience.
* Understanding of building environmental design and sustainability in the built environment at various scales.
* Experience in building environmental modelling and related sustainability models (energy modelling, overheating, daylighting).
* Proficiency with IES modelling, including Radiance, ApacheSIM, SBEM, and Macroflow. Knowledge of Apache HVAC is advantageous but not essential.
* Experience with master planning and planning across asset classes, including energy strategy development.
* Experience delivering planning reports aligned with UK LPAs and GLA policy requirements.
* Interest in broader sustainability disciplines such as whole lifecycle carbon, circular economy, climate risk and adaptation.
