Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking an ambitious and inspiring Pre‑16 Skills Officer to lead the development and delivery of an exciting, high‑impact Pre‑16 Skills Programme as part of Wrexham's Investment Zone. This is a unique opportunity to strengthen skills development, inspire young people aged 5‑16, and develop strong meaningful links between schools and industry, particularly within advanced manufacturing, engineering, digital and STEM sectors critical to the region's future economy.
Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate the Pre‑16 Skills element of Wrexham's Investment Zone.
* Design and deliver high‑quality teacher professional learning (PL).
* Support schools with curriculum design, skills progression and innovation.
* Build strong partnerships with employers and education providers.
* Champion equity, inclusion and participation in STEM, especially for under‑represented groups.
* Develop and evaluate impactful learner experiences, including workshops, site visits and employer‑led activities.
* Monitor impact and contribute to strategic reporting.
* As a Disability Confident Committed Employer, ensure accessible recruitment and support for disabled employees, including a guaranteed interview where essential person specification items are met. Qualifications & Experience
* Educated to degree level, with a postgraduate qualification including QTS.
* Relevant teaching experience and a deep understanding of the Curriculum for Wales.
* Experience of curriculum leadership, skills‑based learning and education partnerships.
* Ability to work confidently with headteachers, teachers, employers and senior stakeholders.
* Creative, solutions‑focused and able to lead change through influence rather than line management.
* Committed to equality, inclusion and raising aspirations for all learners.
* Strong communication, organisational and impact‑evaluation skills.
* Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential.
* Travel across the County Borough is essential.
* Flexible working is required to meet service needs.
