The residents of Norwich are proud to all their home the 'fine city'. Norwich has a wealth of hard and soft open spaces that have for many years been shaped by the council's landscape architects.

We are looking to recruit to our landscape team and are seeking a chartered landscape architect or a professional with an equivalent qualification to the minimum requirements of Chartered status. You will need to be able to evidence designing and managing high value landscape projects and have a sound understanding of development management processes affecting the achievement of good landscape design.


Working as a senior Landscape Architect in the team you will be working with the Principal Landscape Architect and Senior Landscape Architect and Technicians Team Leader to manage and steer the work of the team. You will be required to work independently as part of city council and external design teams to deliver complex landscape and highways projects.

You will be joining an experienced team working for clients within the City Council, supporting neighbouring authorities and the County Council including the highways team.

Norwich City Council supports flexible working and you will be provided with the necessary IT provision to allow for home/flexible working where appropriate.

You will be fully involved in the delivery of an exciting range of ambitious public realm projects and providing advice to planning colleagues on the landscape implications of development proposals in Norwich and the Broads National Park. You will have strong design and detailing skills and a proven record of managing the delivery of landscape led schemes in an urban environment.

You will be expected to lead on work priorities set by the Principal Landscape Architect and seek out new business opportunities and innovation to support the development of the team.


The team led by the Principal and seniors provide guidance and support to other team members and experience of managing the work of members of a design team would be advantageous.

You should ideally have experience of using specialist software to support project design and delivery including the following: Adobe suite, Keyscape, AutoCAD, Sketchup, ArcGIS and Microsoft office.

You will expected to:

* Deliver high quality customer care to the public, clients and other work groups
* Project management including budget control and management of risks
* Negotiate with suppliers, contractors and consultants to secure good outcomes for the council
* Plan personal workload and manage competing priorities under guidance from the Principal Landscape Architect
* Promote a positive and optimistic outlook for the team and demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills


Chartered member of the Landscape Institute and evidence of continuing professional development.
