Your new role
As a Buyer, you will play a key role in supporting the Senior Buyer and ensuring the smooth flow of purchasing activities. Your responsibilities will include:
* Managing supplier accounts and negotiating contracts to secure cost-effective solutions.
* Placing and amending purchase orders across direct and indirect categories.
* Monitoring due and overdue orders, maintaining OTIF records, and updating production schedules.
* Negotiating price reductions, extended payment terms, and delivery methods in line with KPIs.
* Conducting supplier audits and driving continuous improvement in quality and defect reduction.
* Reviewing MRP demands, maintaining system lead times, and preparing for departmental meetings.
* Acting as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
What you'll need to succeed
Essential qualifications and experience:
* Solid IT skills, including experience with SAP or similar systems.
* Proven purchasing/supply chain experience, ideally within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
* Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
* Ability to manage budgets and adhere to company policies.
* A keen eye for detail and excellent organisational skills.
Desirable:
* CIPS qualifications (Level 4+)
* Advanced knowledge of SAP and MRP systems.
