Health and Safety Advisor
Job Details
* Reporting to: Safety Director
* Working Hours: 8am – 5pm, based in Bury St Edmunds
* Remote Working: Available on request
Company Overview
We are a well-established Tier 2 Contractor operating within the Utilities sector (Water, Power Generation, Gas Distribution, Petrochem).
Job Responsibilities
* Conduct regular site visits and inspections within the Anglian Water and Severn Trent regions, and track required actions.
* Ensure timely completion of safety-related follow-up actions.
* Assist in gathering evidence for external audits (e.g., Achilles, ISO standards).
* Coordinate safety meetings and document minutes.
* Create and distribute safety alerts and conduct toolbox talks on-site.
* Investigate incidents and accidents.
* Update risk assessments, standard procedures, and safety documentation.
* Identify training opportunities and equipment to mitigate risks.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of safety management systems.
* Perform other safety-related duties as assigned by the directors.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
* Relevant CSCS Card
* Full UK Driving Licence (no more than 6 points)
* Good understanding of CDM regulations and health and safety legislation
* Self-motivated with good communication skills
* Proficient in written and spoken English
* Team player capable of engaging with individuals at various levels of understanding
