Job Description
We seek an experienced Senior Aquatic Ecologist to join the Aquatic Ecology Team. You will provide technical expertise and conduct surveys for new and existing projects across the UK, supporting a diverse portfolio including government agencies, water companies, renewable energy and infrastructure projects. Your role includes baseline data collection, monitoring, fish passage, translocation, water quality monitoring, pollution response and more.
Responsibilities
* Provide aquatic ecology input into EcIA, planning, mitigation and multidisciplinary projects.
* Author technical reports and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for specialist input.
* Undertake data analysis and processing.
* Produce EcIA documents in line with CIEEM guidelines.
* Manage aquatic ecology input into projects, including survey design and costing.
* Lead a team of multi‑skilled aquatic ecologists across AECOM’s nationwide offices and laboratories.
* Support the wider environmental business.
Qualifications
* Expertise in industry‑standard monitoring techniques, analyses, and permitting for aquatic ecology.
* Familiarity with legislation such as the Water Framework Directive (WFD).
* Experience in the EcIA/EIA process from baseline data collection to impact assessment and mitigation design.
* Experience with WFD compliance assessment.
* Full UK driving licence.
