Position: Live-in Couple (Housekeeper/Cook & Maintenance/Driver)
A friendly, young family of four is seeking an upbeat, proactive, and happy Live-in Couple to manage their beautiful six-bedroom farmhouse. This property serves as a weekend residence and a summer retreat. The household includes two children (aged 3 and 7) and a friendly Cocker Spaniel.
The ideal candidates will be energetic, child-friendly, and animal-loving individuals who take pride in maintaining a warm and welcoming family environment.
Both individuals must hold a valid driving licence and be confident drivers, including the ability to drive into London. We are looking for "people people" who are upbeat, positive, and comfortable working around young children. Strong cooking abilities with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients are essential, along with previous experience in a similar private household role. Additionally, candidates must be fond of dogs and willing to provide overnight pet sitting when the family is away.
Primary Responsibilities
The role requires a flexible approach, ensuring the home is perfectly prepared for the family’s arrival from London and running smoothly during their stay.
Housekeeper / Cook
1. Housekeeping: Maintain high standards of cleanliness; provide daily tidying and silver service levels of care when the family is in residence.
2. Catering: Prepare healthy, seasonal, and fresh family meals. This includes occasional dinner parties and family-friendly dishes.
3. Child Support: Offer an occasional helping hand with the children and provide occasional babysitting (please note this is a support role, not a formal nanny position).
4. Administration: Manage the household diary and schedule various contractors as required.
5. Pet Care: Provide dedicated care and pet sitting for the family’s Cocker Spaniel.
Maintenance / Service / Driver
6. Estate Maintenance: Undertake light repairs, simple DIY projects, and general upkeep of the property.
7. Gardening: Supervise external gardeners and provide hands-on assistance during busy periods to ensure the grounds are immaculate.
8. Driving: Perform local errands and occasional driving to and from London to collect the Principals.
9. Service: Provide professional drinks and table service during dinner parties and guest visits.
10. Contractor Management: Act as the primary point of contact for external tradespeople and ensure all work is completed to a high standard.
Working Hours: Thursday to Monday (to cover the family's weekend visits), 40 hours per week. Some flexibility is expected.
Days Off: Tuesday and Wednesday.
Accommodation: A lovely, recently renovated 2-bedroom converted stable block. The Principals are happy to consider couples with their own well-behaved pets.
Salary: £75,000 GPA
