Electrical Engineer – Hydropower (Senior / Principal)
Stantec is rapidly growing and seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic hydro & pumped storage team. This role can be based anywhere in the UK.
About The Opportunity
Stantec works on the world’s largest, complex hydropower projects. You will lead the electrical engineering design of projects, from feasibility studies to commissioning, covering generators, control systems, protection, substations and transmission lines. You will also manage a small team, support business growth, and engage in grid upgrade projects.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading electrical design of hydropower and pumped storage systems.
* Modeling, analyzing and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
* Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
* Collaborating with civil, mechanical and other disciplines for integrated design.
* Taking line‑management responsibility and contributing to strategy development.
About You
* Ideally Chartered or hold IET Incorporated Engineer status (or working toward it).
* Experience with large rotating machines (generators or motors); hydro and/or pumped storage experience preferred.
* Proficient in drafting and interpreting design drawings, single line diagrams, block diagrams, calculations, load schedules, specifications and reports.
* Strong technical presentation skills; active participation in workshops.
