Main Purpose of Job.
We're looking for a reliable, hands-on Maintenance Person to help keep our garden centre safe, functional, and looking its best. This role is responsible for general repairs, upkeep of buildings and outdoor areas, and supporting daily operations to ensure a great experience for customers and our staff team.
Accountabilities - Main Duties and Responsibilities
The post holder will be required to: -
a) work closely with the Garden Centre Management Team to undertake general repairs and maintenance such as carpentry, putting together furniture or display units, mechanical repairs, small electrical and plumbing tasks, decoration and various health & safety routine maintenance checks, as required.
b) record and report any defects and issues of concern.
c) order and collect materials for jobs required.
d) respond flexibly to priorities during the day.
e) work closely with contractors when they are on site.
g) maintain outdoor areas including paths, fencing, displays and storage areas.
h) assist with seasonal set up and take down.
i) restore/repair any property or environmental damage following any accidental incidents at customer locations off site.
j) adhere to current Health & Safety regulations and ensure that all reasonably practicable steps are taken to ensure that employees, customers and visitors are not exposed to risk.
k) uphold the brand image of Aylett nurseries at all times by ensuring work areas are tidy and safe, behaviour is professional and you are always aware of customers when working in customer facing environments.
l) undertake other such duties as may reasonably be assigned and required in the post.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience
The post holder should have a pleasant disposition, together with an ability to communicate clearly, with staff and customers alike.
The post holder should have experience in at least one of the trades; plumbing, electrical, carpentry or building and be happy to carry out a range of different tasks in any working day.
A full driving licence is needed to source and collect equipment needed for maintenance tasks.
