The Clinical Pharmacy Service at Barnet Hospital is highly respected across the Trust and our staff work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to advance patient care. We are patient‑centred, research‑oriented, progressive and innovative, and work alongside senior managers and clinicians to provide comprehensive directorate services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the Pharmacy Clinical Services team, who will take a lead on the day to day running of the pharmacy clinical services as well as negotiating and agreeing clinical guidelines and prescribing practice for the trust and more widely across Royal Free London.
Main duties of the job
Key activities of the post holder will include:
* Provide a clinical commitment
* To standardise clinical practice and drive quality improvement work
* Deliver training to pharmacy staff in relation to approved clinical pharmacy policies and procedures
* To lead and participate in clinical audit and quality improvement work for the pharmacy clinical service
* To work closely with the Deputy Chief Pharmacist for Clinical Services
The post will be provided with many opportunities for personal and professional development. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate initiative, innovation and effective teamwork within a busy environment. Previous experience as a clinical pharmacist, and directorate pharmacy, as well as operational experience and excellent interpersonal skills are essential for the role. Candidates should have successfully completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent). An independent prescribing qualification and experience of staff management are advantageous.

The Pharmacy Service comprises of inpatient and outpatient dispensary services, ward based clinical pharmacy services, medicines Information, aseptic and non‑sterile production services, pharmacy stores & distribution, procurement, and homecare services. We cover a range of clinical specialties including HIV, general medicine, emergency services, surgery, rheumatology, hepatology, anti‑coagulation, oncology & haematology, women’s health, paediatrics, and infection control.

* Post Graduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice
