Job Description
The Luggage Porter/Car Jockey role at The Grand, York is focused on ensuring a seamless and exceptional guest experience from the moment of arrival to departure. This role plays a key part in guest service by managing their luggage, assisting with their vehicles, and providing general assistance to enhance their stay. Key responsibilities for your role will be:
Guest Arrival and Departure Assistance:
-Greet guests warmly upon their arrival and departure, creating a positive first and last impression.
-Assist guests with unloading and loading luggage from their vehicles.
-Escort guests to their rooms while carrying or managing their luggage, ensuring a smooth and courteous service.
-Offer information about the hotel’s facilities, services, and any local amenities or attractions that may be of interest.
Vehicle Management:
-Safely park and retrieve guest vehicles upon request, ensuring secure handling of their vehicles.
-Assist with valet parking duties, providing a professional and efficient service.
-Ensure that guest vehicles are parked in designated areas and comply with hotel policies.
Luggage and Storage Management:
-Transport guest luggage to and from rooms efficiently and carefully.
-Assist with storing luggage securely in designated areas for guests who are checking in early or departing later than checkout.
-Ensure that all luggage is handled and transported with care to avoid any damages.
Concierge Support:
-Provide general assistance to guests, including giving directions or information about the local area, restaurants, or attractions.
-Offer support with special requests, such as arranging transportation, making recommendations, or providing local knowledge.
Health and Safety:
-Ensure that all health and safety regulations are followed when handling luggage and vehicles.
-Be familiar with hotel safety protocols and emergency procedures, ensuring guest safety at all times.
Collaboration with Other Departments:
-Work closely with front office and concierge teams to ensure smooth operations and deliver a consistent level of service.
-Communicate guest needs to other departments where necessary to ensure requests are met promptly.
Maintaining Standards:
-Ensure high standards of cleanliness and presentation in areas where luggage is stored and where guest vehicles are parked.
-Uphold the hotel's quality service standards to ensure guest satisfaction at all times.
