Job Description
Specialist Teaching Assistant – Full Time
Location: London
Start: ASAP
Setting: Specialist provision for autistic pupils
If you know how to support autistic children properly — not just “manage” them — this is for you.
What you’ll be doing
* Supporting autistic pupils with both learning and behaviour in a specialist setting.
* Using visual communication systems, Makaton and assistive tech to help non-verbal learners communicate.
* Building connection through intensive interaction — social engagement, turn-taking, and early communication skills.
* Using Positive Behaviour Support and co-regulation to guide pupils through moments of distress safely and effectively.
* Working closely with teachers, SaLT, OT, and behaviour specialists to follow and improve individual support plans.
