Band 5 Rotational Mental Health Occupational Therapist
Location: Wirral | Start Date: ASAP
This rotational post is based at Springview Mental Health Unit, Clatterbridge Hospital. You will rotate across the wards at Springview, including:
* Three acute adult mental health assessment wards
* A ward for people with dementia
* Specialist inpatient eating disorder unit (SEDU)
* A Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
What You'll Do
You will be part of a rotation offering diverse opportunities to gain experience with people aged 18+ experiencing acute mental health challenges. Key responsibilities include:
* Conducting holistic assessments and interventions, and supporting discharge planning
* Managing a diverse and complex caseload
* Facilitating meaningful therapeutic interventions to improve service user lives
Main duties involve working with Occupational Therapists, OT Technical Instructors (OTTIS) and a multidisciplinary team to ensure a seamless, supportive care experience.
Hours
Full-time (37.5 hours/week), Monday to Friday

Induction and Training
New starters begin on one fixed start date each month, aligned with our Prepare to Care (P2C) induction. P2C includes up to 3 weeks of training to meet induction requirements.
Requirements
Essential – Diploma/BSc in Occupational Therapy; State Registration with HCPC. Some knowledge of current OT practice, assessment tools, ability to work autonomously with individuals and groups, manual handling skills, ability to support OT students and staff, professional ethics, team dynamics, basic knowledge of clinical governance, health legislation and risk assessment, effective communication, computer literacy.
Desirable – Professional membership; training and presentation skills; evidence-based practice; experience in clinical audit and research.
