About The Role
Our Athletics Academy is targeted at children of all abilities aged 8-9 (school year 4). The aim of the Academy is to provide participants with an introduction to athletics, and the various disciplines within the sport, as well as some core movement skills. Successful candidates will work as part of a small team of coaches to deliver athletics sessions, under the supervision of a Lead Coach. Sessions take place at the Athletics & Hockey Centre, Swansea Bay Sports Park.
Post holders will assist in the delivery of our junior Athletics Academy, a scheme that currently runs two evenings a week over three 10-week terms. Applicants will be expected to deliver the full range of Athletics events, broken down into a run/jump/throw each week.
Applicants should hold a current UKA ‘Coaching Assistant’ qualification or be prepared to undertake the necessary training to obtain this before October 2025. Experience of coaching young/novice athletes also desirable, as is evidence of working in a small team, excellent interpersonal skills, and sound technical knowledge across all athletics disciplines.
