Environmental Waste Operator
Description:
Tradebe is currently looking for an Environmental Waste Operator to be based at our Winfrith Site in Dorset. The main role is to support radioactive waste projects in line with business needs.
The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Perform Radioactive Waste Plant Operations
* Manage Waste Movements
* Maintain Housekeeping Standards
The role
* Carry out processing operations for various plant applications such as cementation, super-compaction, size reduction, segregation, decontamination, and chemical processing.
* Work flexibly at the Winfrith site and other locations as required, including weekends and on a rota basis.
* Use PPE and RPE, adhering to Health and Safety, Environmental, and Security regulations on a Nuclear Licensed Site.
* Apply manual handling techniques and follow Safe Systems of Work, including Risk Assessments, in a radioactive environment.
* Demonstrate a strong commitment to Health and Safety by reporting issues immediately.
* Operate forklifts, cranes, and slinging operations, especially during waste loading, in collaboration with the Appointed Person Lifting (APL).
* Prepare radioactive waste packages for disposal.
* Keep operational areas clean, tidy, safe, and secure after tasks.
The person

* A valid driving license

* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Integrity, trustworthiness, and strong values
* FLT Certification
* Experience with gantry cranes and slinging (training available)
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Desirable Skills:
* Operational plant setup, operation, control, and dismantling
* Knowledge of safety documentation such as method statements and risk assessments
* Experience working with radioactive plant and materials
* Proficiency with IT equipment

* Salary between £25,000 and £27,000
