A warm and welcoming Secondary school in beautiful Glastonbury is looking for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their community. This is a larger secondary school and has a range of facilities to encourage and help their students learning including an SEN and Autism centre that is attached to the school. The school puts a huge emphasis on helping all of their students feel supported and reach their full potential.

In this role you will be supporting students in overcoming their Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges. You will support students in lessons, helping them manage their emotions, and encourage them to stay on track. These pupils often come with a history of disrupted schooling, difficult behaviour, or backgrounds where trust has been broken. It’s not easy. There will be outbursts and difficult moments. But there will also be breakthroughs. When a pupil stays in class all lesson, engages with work they’d normally avoid, or simply builds trust with you. Those moments are where the role feels worthwhile.

Your compassion, empathy and patience will be your biggest strengths within this role. Leaning into a soft and understanding yet confident approach will be necessary. We need somebody who is not fazed by a challenge. If you see opportunity where others see difficulty this is the role for you!

Experience: 1 to 1 TA Experience in a UK school required
Contract: Permanent
