Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Maternity Services for an 8a Service Manager. We're seeking individuals who wish to advance their careers or broaden their service management experience.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide timely, effective, proactive operational management support to the specialty department within their division.
2. Assist lead clinicians, senior midwives, and senior managers, ensuring the Service functions responsively, innovatively, and maintains high clinical and performance standards.
3. Support the Director of Midwifery, Head of Midwifery, and Associate Director of Operations in achieving performance and quality targets; develop and implement solutions to challenges with colleagues; take full responsibility for actions and communication within the management team.
4. Oversee and support administrative staff management; work closely with senior staff to ensure compliance with statutory, national, and local targets.
5. Evaluate service delivery against projected activity.

Job responsibilities
Leadership
* Provide professional general and operational management support, partnering with clinicians and senior staff to deliver high-quality, responsive services.
* Manage relationships across departments, ensuring safety and patient experience.
* Participate in operational management and hospital-wide initiatives supporting patient flow.
Strategic Direction and Business Planning
* Support strategy and business plan development, assist in high-quality business case creation, and manage stakeholder relationships.
* Promote staff and patient involvement, analyze data for planning, and ensure effective information systems are in place.
Service Development and Performance Management
* Lead performance management, support service improvements, and develop models of care to enhance efficiency and quality.
* Coordinate information dissemination and support IT development for reporting accuracy.
Financial Management
* Manage delegated budgets, identify overspends and savings, and support cost improvement programs.
Human Resource Management
* Line manage staff, support recruitment, oversee rotas, and ensure HR policies are followed.
Risk and Quality Management
* Support risk management, patient safety initiatives, and clinical governance activities.
Personal Development
* Identify training needs, participate in performance reviews, and undertake relevant education.
General
* Undertake ad hoc projects, attend meetings, support incident planning, and fulfill other duties as required.
