We are seeking an Interim Housing Strategy and Affordable Housing Development Lead. This role is primarily remote, with occasional in-person meetings as required. The position is full-time, equivalent to 3-4 days per week. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in shaping housing strategies, providing expert advice, and engaging with key stakeholders to drive the development and adoption of housing policies.
Responsibilities:
* Lead the creation and democratic adoption of a co-produced Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy.
* Develop and guide the adoption process for a co-produced Specialist Housing Strategy and its Supplementary Planning Document.
* Offer expert advice on affordable housing during planning consultations and discussions with developers, Registered Providers (RPs), and stakeholders like Homes England.
* Justify affordable housing policies to planning inspectors during appeals and inquiries.

* Strong collaborative skills to motivate and engage colleagues, including senior officers, elected members, and partners.
* Effective presentation skills to communicate key information clearly.
