EQUANS - Electrical Shift Engineer (Media City Contract)
EQUANS is looking for an Electrical Shift Engineer to join the Media City contract in Salford. The position is a permanent full‑time role with a 4‑on, 4‑off shift pattern (07:00‑19:00 followed by four days off) and a competitive salary and benefits package.
General overview
The Electrical Engineer will provide all‑round engineering support, maintaining the building infrastructure and ensuring compliance with health & safety and building codes. The role acts as the coordination point for day‑to‑day site activities between the engineer, FM management, and shift engineer during night shifts and subcontractors. The Engineer must maintain 100% uptime criteria and respond swiftly to plant failures and abnormal conditions.
Key responsibilities
* Act as on‑site coordination point between the engineer, FM management team, and shift engineer on night shifts.
* Ensure all allocated activities are undertaken with professional quality and H&S standards.
* Respond effectively to plant failures, complete reactive callouts, and ensure normal operations.
* Run the operation whilst on duty, coordinating with subcontractors and shift engineer.
* Report difficulties to Engineering Supervisor/Manager.
* Maintain daily record keeping and understand escalation procedures.
* Participate in out‑of‑hours call‑out and overtime for on‑site works.
* Prepare, review, and perform risk assessments and method statements, including point‑of‑work risk assessments.
* Manage subcontractors and select specialised tools as required.
Principal objectives
* Carry out PPM tasks, maintain records and complete related documentation.
* Respond to reactive callouts on critical systems.
* Complete compliance testing and minor works to JSP375 standard.
* Carry out minor installation works and testing.
* Communicate company vision and objectives, ensuring new procedures are implemented.
* Promote and drive company values.
* Keep up to date with industry developments and drive innovation and effective change.
Impact
The role is client‑forward facing; strong communication skills are required to ensure operational and contractual obligations are met, mitigating risk to EQUANS.
Complexity
The Engineer must be confident, experienced, and driven, with good planning and organisational skills.
Qualifications and required experience
* City and Guilds training.
* Strong communication skills.
* Good experience of electrical maintenance and repairs.
* Previous AP/AE experience and qualifications preferred but not essential.
Additional requirements
Evidence of the right to work in the UK is required. Relocation package is not offered. Certain roles may require a Disclosure check.
