Overview
South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLAM) is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Primary mental health care teams in Neighbourhood 4 within the London Borough of Lewisham. This fixed‑term post offers opportunities to work closely with Primary Care partners, lead service development, and apply quality improvement methodology to evaluate changes.
Responsibilities
* Provide consultant input to the Primary Care Mental Health Team, offering expert risk assessment and management of newly referred patients.
* Ensure excellence in the delivery of evidence‑based treatments.
* Act as a source of support, advice and information to patients, carers, referrers and other professionals.
* Lead clinical cover for other Lewisham borough consultants and vice versa.
* Represent the unit at CAG, care pathway meetings and other internal and external meetings.
* Provide reciprocal Approved Clinician cover under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act for leave, study leave and sickness of senior medical staff during working hours.
* Keep up‑to‑date with developments in research and treatment of acute care pathways and inpatient mental health care.
* Develop strong working relationships with outside stakeholders, notably GPs, local authority social services, housing providers and local voluntary organisations.
* Undertake responsibilities as an Approved Clinician under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act 1983 as required.
