Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, Estates Capital Developments team. We are looking to appoint an individual who can demonstrate excellent day to day leadership and communications skills with a previous track record of successfully delivering a high standard of service provision and budgetary control.
This role reports to the Associate Director Capital Developments and contributes to the strategic planning of the Estates service for Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. The successful candidate will plan, organise and develop Capital Developments within our Hospital.
Responsibilities
* Support the Associate Director of Capital Development in delivering Capital Projects and managing Capital Backlog Maintenance.
* Maintain close working relationships with the Director of Estates & Capital Development and Operational Estates teams to ensure compliance and maintenance revenue obligations are met cost-effectively throughout the asset lifecycle.
* Communicate complex technical project information to a diverse audience including Directors, Senior Managers, suppliers, and both specialist and non-specialist stakeholders.
* Possess expert knowledge of HTM, HBN, CIBSE, and all relevant regulatory requirements, and apply these to ensure a balance between compliance and cost-effectiveness in the development of project specifications.
* Take responsibility for engineering maintenance, development of estates operational policy, and all forms of project documentation, ensuring they are regularly updated.
* Ensure patient safety and comfort are central to all project deliverables, and that all building and health & safety requirements are fully met.
* Provide support in the administration of the capital programme using a risk-based methodology, incorporating data from backlog maintenance, wayfinding, asbestos records, and six-facet surveys.
Context

We are a large acute hospital trust in south-east England, providing general hospital services and specialist care to around 600,000 residents in West Kent and East Sussex. With a dedicated and diverse team of over 8,000 staff we are proud to offer specialised cancer services to over two million people through the Kent Oncology Centre. Fordcombe Hospital, near Tunbridge Wells, became part of the Trust in October 2024. Specialising in planned care, it offers two operating theatres, 28 inpatient and day-care beds, diagnostic services (X-ray, MRI, CT, and endoscopy), and consultation/treatment rooms.
Requirements
* Expert knowledge of HTM, HBN, CIBSE, and all relevant regulatory requirements.
* Ability to apply these requirements to balance compliance and cost-effectiveness in project specifications.
* Experience in engineering maintenance and development of estates operational policy and project documentation.
* Strong communication skills to present complex technical information to Directors, Senior Managers, suppliers, and both specialist and non-specialist stakeholders.
