Senior Advisor - Future Agriculture - Environmental Land Management - 31666

This role involves influencing the design and delivery of incentives within the wider context of shaping the organisation’s response to government reviews and delivering our EA2030 strategy and targets for water, the environment and climate.
The Environment Agency ELM team is seeking dynamic, strategic thinkers to help shape the future of ELM, particularly the delivery of Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier (CSHT). You will contribute to continuous improvement of CSHT products for the Farming and Countryside Programme and work across teams and organisations with senior leaders to articulate a scheme that supports outcomes.
Responsibilities
* Provide advice in meetings, manage commissions, deliver and provide oversight of Programme milestones, and identify future risks and resource requirements.
* Work across a variety of teams and organisations to articulate a CSHT-informed scheme that supports EA2030 outcomes.
* Deliver key CSHT products for the Farming and Countryside Programme and contribute to scheme design and delivery improvements.
* Engage with Defra, delivery bodies, and the agriculture sector to achieve consistency and improve collaboration between organisations.
* Represent expertise to Defra and other statutory bodies to support policy and agricultural scheme design and implementation.
The team sits within the Nature & Place Directorate, part of the National Agriculture and Land Team, working with government, statutory bodies and industry in an agile, fast-paced, and collaborative environment. Experience and Qualifications
* Experience of Agriculture and working with Defra and other statutory bodies is essential.
* Politically aware with excellent communication and networking skills.
* Understanding of environmental sensitivities related to agriculture sector reform.
* Experience interpreting/evaluating evidence to propose risk-based solutions for challenging problems.
* Ability to prioritise and deliver complex work as a self-starter who develops and advances ideas.
