About the Role
The Power & Utilities Manager leads the long-term strategy, sourcing and delivery of utility capacity across Global Switch’s data centre portfolio and growth markets. This highly strategic role sits at the intersection of infrastructure planning, commercial negotiation and sustainability, ensuring the business secures reliable, resilient and commercially competitive power and utilities to support both current operations and future expansion.
Working closely with senior stakeholders across Development, Engineering, Operations, ESG, Legal and Finance, you will translate complex market, regulatory and capacity considerations into clear recommendations that support investment decisions, resilience and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead Global Switch’s power and utilities sourcing and supply strategy across multiple regions and future growth markets.
* Secure long-term, resilient and cost-effective electricity, water and gas capacity through structured sourcing and negotiation.
* Analyse grid capacity, infrastructure constraints, market dynamics and regulatory developments to inform long-term planning.
* Negotiate and structure complex, high value agreements, including PPAs, connection agreements and utility service contracts.
* Provide commercial and technical utilities input into new developments, expansions and long-term infrastructure planning.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with utilities, regulators, grid operators, consultants and strategic partners.
* Prepare cost forecasts, capacity assessments, risk evaluations and commercial models to support investment decisions.
* Identify and mitigate risks related to supply constraints, regulatory change and market volatility.
* Support sustainability objectives through renewable, low carbon and alternative utility solutions.
* Lead cross functional initiatives and produce clear reporting and dashboards for senior leadership and executive forums.
About You
You are a strategic and commercially minded utilities professional who brings clarity to complexity. You combine deep market and regulatory understanding with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, challenge assumptions and turn insight into action.
You are comfortable operating in asset heavy, regulated environments, balancing long-term infrastructure strategy with commercial discipline and operational realities. You communicate clearly, build credibility quickly, and thrive in cross functional, matrixed organisations where decisions carry significant long-term impact.
Above all, you take ownership, think ahead, and are motivated by shaping resilient, future focused infrastructure that supports sustainable growth.
Key Requirements
* Strong experience in power and utilities strategy, procurement or capacity planning, ideally within data centres, energy, infrastructure or similarly capital-intensive environments.
* Proven track record negotiating high value power and utilities agreements.
* Solid understanding of energy markets, regulatory frameworks and grid connection processes.
* Commercial and financial acumen, including forecasting, modelling and investment case support.
* Experience supporting renewable energy and alternative power solutions.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, including engagement with utilities, regulators and senior internal leaders.
* Strategic, analytical and commercially aware, with the ability to translate complex information into clear recommendations.
