Whether you’re already working in education and looking for your next role, or if you’re working in industry and looking to change your career path, we have an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer to join our Horticulture curriculum team in readiness for the start of the 2025/26 academic year.
Sharing your knowledge to unlock potential whilst guiding our learners through their studies, you’ll work as part of the curriculum team to create and deliver lessons across a range of qualification levels, inspiring achievement and the best possible outcomes. The successful candidate will be a team player, an excellent communicator, and able to maintain a proactive approach to managing deadlines, whilst retaining a high standard of delivery.
Hadlow College Horticulture department offers life changing opportunities to our students who may wish to study Horticulture from Level 1 through to Level 6 with additional RHS qualifications. Our students are in high demand by industry due to their excellent knowledge and practical skills.
The successful candidate will get to deliver practical sessions using our amazing facilities and resources which include 10 acres of public gardens where students develop skills both as part of their curriculum time but also carry out skills development sessions working alongside our Head Gardener. We have an orchard and vineyard producing a range of modern apple types, plums, apricots, cherries and grapes. Apples are pressed and sold as Hadlow College apple juice produced with students. Our weekly Pop-up plant shop offer students the chance to work in a retail environment and of course to help produce more than 10,000 plants each year both under glass and plastic with outdoor areas. Our Venlo Glasshouse which is only a few years old is the only Centre of Excellence for Glasshouse growing in the UK and is supported by Thanet Earth and numerous other industry specialists who wish to work along side our students and staff. The glasshouse has two separate hydroponic units, misting bench for propagation, standing down space and a vertical farming unit. The glasshouse environment is managed through PRIVA.

The Role:
Where you’ll work: This role is based at our Hadlow campus.
Your hours: 22.2 hours per week, 52 weeks per annum (0.6 FTE).
Your pay: £20,531.40 to £25,260 per annum (£34,219 to £42,100 per annum full time equivalent), dependent on qualifications and experience.
