Role Overview
Pharmacy Technician in the Logistics team at Royal Derby Hospital, supporting the Chief Pharmacy Technicians with day‑to‑day management of pharmacy distribution and procurement.
Responsibilities
* Lead the annual ward stock list review process, liaising with Divisional pharmacists and Ward/Theatre Managers, and manage collection, reporting and analysis of additional stock requests.
* Lead and support the management, development and delivery of distribution and procurement related education and training for pre‑registration trainee pharmacy technicians and support staff.
* Assist the chief technicians in maintaining, developing and implementing policies and procedures to improve service and reduce risk.
* Support the chief technicians with recruitment, return‑to‑work, annual leave allocation and appraisal of delegated staff.

Person Specification
Education, Training and Qualifications
* Essential: Registered Pharmacy Technician (GPhC); evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
* Desirable: Management qualification; Training qualification e.g., City and Guilds Stage 1 Teaching certificate or equivalent.
Experience and Knowledge
* Essential: Current knowledge of hospital pharmacy practice; working knowledge of NHS Trust and departmental procedures and priorities; detailed pharmacy technical knowledge including Law & Ethics; substantial pharmacy experience; experience of training staff; computer literacy with knowledge of Word, Excel and pharmacy computer systems.
* Desirable: Knowledge of unlicensed medicines in England; knowledge and understanding of NVQ Pharmacy Services standards; awareness of opportunities for extended roles for pharmacy technicians and support staff; coaching/mentoring experience.
Skills and Ability
* Essential: Clearly and concisely communicate verbally and electronically; produce accurate written work; work under pressure, organise own work, meet deadlines; work independently while recognising limits of authority and knowledge; identify and solve problems; attention to detail.
