Situated in a picturesque market town in the East Riding of Yorkshire, my client is an RCVS-accredited small animal hospital offering 24-hour care. They’re seeking an experienced veterinary surgeon to join their team on a full-time basis, working primarily from the hospital, with occasional branch work at their sister practices. You’ll enjoy a varied caseload, from routine procedures to more complex cases, ensuring ongoing professional development and clinical stimulation.
This hospital is fitted with everything you’d expect from a modern referral-standard environment, including in-house CT, a hydrotherapy suite, dental suites with dental X-ray, endoscopy, TPLO/TTA capability, laparoscopic facilities, and advanced ophthalmology tools. They also have a dedicated cat clinic that supports their ISFM Cat-Friendly Gold Status, ensuring feline patients receive the highest standard of care.
You’ll be part of a collaborative team that values shared learning, with regular clinical discussions and team meetings. If you have a particular area of interest, certificate study is supported and encouraged — current team members are working towards qualifications in ECC and ophthalmology, with additional specialisms in cardiology. The result is a rich learning environment and a truly varied caseload.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need to be confident performing exploratory laparotomies, splenectomies, GDVs, gastrotomies, and enterotomies independently. You should also feel comfortable managing routine consults in 15-minute slots, carrying out routine and non-routine surgeries, and delivering excellent dental care. A calm, collaborative, and proactive attitude is essential, along with the ability to remain composed in a fast-paced environment and contribute to a positive and supportive team culture.
