KierBAM are a Joint Venture (JV) partnership between Kier and BAM UK & Ireland. We are currently delivering the redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site located in Plymouth and we are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer.
Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past five years.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be working in a live MOD facility. Your day-to-day tasks will include:
* Develop and execute inspection and testing procedures
* Conduct root cause analysis and support problem‑solving activities
* Monitor production or construction processes for quality compliance
* Review documentation and verify that materials or products meet specifications
* Support audits and quality system implementations
* Assist in corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes
* Collect and analyse quality data to identify trends and improvements
Qualifications
* Professionally qualified operator and/or graduate
* Quality related qualifications and industry experience (e.g., ISO)
* Experience of a similar role, preferably in a relevant sector such as nuclear and defence
* CSCS – Green labourer
* Strong understanding of quality principles, inspection methods, and testing
* Familiarity with quality tools such as FMEA, SPC and root cause analysis
* Knowledge of relevant standards, e.g., ISO 9001 and industry‑specific standards
* Basic statistical and data analysis skills
* Good communication and problem‑solving abilities
