Internal Sales Representative Asphalt Chelmsford Salary: £32,000 - £36,000 (dependent on experience) Full-time | 40 hours per week We are looking for a proactive and customer-focused Internal Sales Representative to join our team in Chelmsford. In this role, you will manage a portfolio of customers, drive new business, and support the commercial and distribution teams to deliver an excellent customer experience. About the Role You will be responsible for managing and growing a defined customer portfolio through structured outbound activity, strong relationship management, and accurate pricing. Working closely with your local District Sales Managers (DSM/s), you will ensure a unified, professional commercial approach across the region. This role requires confident communication, strong sales administration skills, and the ability to respond efficiently to customer needs. Key Responsibilities Customer & Commercial Management Manage a portfolio of customers across an allocated geographical area. Generate new business through proactive, structured outbound calls and scheduled follow-ups. Make regular sales calls to existing customers, following agreed call plans and objectives. Identify key prospects and decision makers, clearly communicating value and differentiators. Price work for specific customers in line with agreed volume levels and pricing guidelines. Support DSMs with market analysis, including demand, segmentation and competitor activity. Identify opportunities to add value and support customer success. Price cash sale enquiries in accordance with the cash sale pricing policy. Sales Administration Handle all written and verbal customer enquiries promptly and professionally. Generate accurate quotations that meet technical and customer requirements. Investigate and resolve customer issues where possible, seeking solutions that support both the customer and the business. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding orders, pricing, products and delivery. Escalate issues appropriately when outside the scope or authority of the role. Take payments for cash sales. Teamwork & Collaboration Contribute to maintaining strong team morale and support colleagues to meet area goals. Build knowledge of other roles in the team to provide cover where required. Work closely with DSMs to ensure a seamless, joined-up commercial approach.
