This is an exciting opportunity for a new cardiologist to help develop cardiology services for a local population of approximately 750,000 people. The appointed individual will work closely with other consultants in the Department of Cardiology at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA).
The service has a Clinical Director, Dr. Kamal Khan, lead nurse Naheed Sabir, and Directorate Manager Tania Woolley. Regular directorate meetings facilitate communication of issues and support for medical staff. A mentor will be allocated to assist the new appointee's transition. Regular job planning meetings monitor workload.
Main duties of the job
The new post holder will participate in a hot week system, seeing all cardiology inpatients daily from Monday to Friday, and reviewing patients with cardiology conditions in the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) or elsewhere at Fairfield General Hospital (FGH) or the Royal Oldham Hospital (ROH).
The service provides new and follow-up cardiology clinics held at the main hospital, supported by cardiology specialist nurses. Full cardiorespiratory investigations are available on-site. The post involves providing these clinics to support patient care.
In addition to inpatient work and clinics, the post requires a sub-specialist interest in Imaging. This role offers the potential to maintain and develop an established service within a dedicated team.
