An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Ecology team in Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire. We are offering work experience within our Ecology team to a small number of students during our survey season which runs from May to September. Key responsibilities: To support the ecology team in conducting ecological surveys To support the ecology team in data handling (uploading camera footage) and data analysis (camera footage reviewal, typing up survey sheets) Shadow members of the team to experience what life as an ecologist is really like! Essential: Be passionate about the environment and field of work. Must have a driving licence and access to a car due to the varied schedule and unsociable working hours. Must have a flexible schedule and be willing to work early mornings or late nights if needed although this can be discussed on a case-by-case basis depending on the number of hours needed for work experience. Access to your own supply of suitable outdoor clothing and shoes – waterproofs, walking boots, wellies and warm layers. Be prepared to work anti-social hours for experience in protected species surveying. Desirable: Evidence of volunteering, work experience, or training courses relevant to a protected species licence or our streams of work. Enrolled on an environmental science or biology degree / course Knowledge of types of surveys we undertake Local to either our North Aston office or our Brigstock office. Can evidence knowledge of the general field of work i.e. keeps up to date with industry news. Application Process: Stage 1 - invitation for an initial call to get to know you better. Stage 2 - invitation to either our Oxfordshire or Northamptonshire office for a second in-person interview. We will ask you to provide the details of your current education provider to act for you as a referee. We look forward to hearing from you! The hours for this role will vary depending on the survey season, as well as your own schedule requirements. Our standard working days are Monday to Friday, but during the survey season you will be expected to work anti-social hours to gain experience in protected species surveying.
