An opportunity has arisen to lead SEND and inclusion across our growing school, starting September 2025. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person to take over the reins.
We are happy for this to be flexible and will work with the right candidate to work out the logistics of how this role might look e.g. 4-5 days. We also have the opportunity for candidates to lead inclusion if candidates show and interest and will provide a TLR or allowance.
We believe our SENDCO is a key pivot within our staff body – highly visible and essential to the quality of teaching and learning in our school.
The ideal candidate will have:
* A teaching qualification
* Experience of teaching and supporting pupils with SEND
* Strong knowledge of SEN and the Code of Practice
* Experience in developing and implementing individual education plans - pupil profiles and EHCPs
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with pupils, parents, staff and external agencies.
* Strong organisational and administrative skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Ability to be flexible and adaptable
* A commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of SEND
* Strong management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate others
* Strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding policies and procedures
* Knowledge and understanding of PP, EAL and other pupil needs

Wantage Primary Academy opened in September 2020 with just a few small classes and, by September 2025, we will have grown to over 340 pupils in a Nursery class, 2 Reception classes, 2 Year 1 classes, 2 Year 2 classes, 2 Year 3 classes, a Year 4 class, a Year 5 class and a Year 6 class. We will eventually grow to a full, 2-form entry primary school.
