Job description
Our Water contractor client is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their South London Water/Wastewater capital delivery team on a permanent basis.
As an ambitiousQuantity Surveyor you'll be working on our clients' Thames Water AMP7/8 Framework in the London Area, working on Bexley Low Flows. The works will consist of the design, installation and commissioning of a transfer main and associated works between Oxleas Wood and Farningham Hill via Bexley WTW, circa £65m. The scheme includes installation of over 10km of various sized pipework together with the construction and commissioning of a new 17ML/d water booster pumping station.

This role will be within the water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.
Responsibilities
1. You'll be responsible for effective procurement and management of subcontractors, from agreement of terms and conditions, risk attribution and scope through to Final Account.
2. You'll manage and mentor Assistant Quantity Surveyors and other junior members of the team in carrying out the administration of the commercial and financial aspects of the Capital Delivery Frameworks.
3. You'll have the opportunity to work closely with the operational team. Administering the bespoke Principal Contract containing, among others, elements of NEC and I Chem E.
4. You'll manage change through the Early Warning and Variation processes with both the Client and subcontractors alike to achieve value and margin maximisation.
5. You'll produce or support the production of CVRs, applications for payment and Cost Forecasts.
6. You'll closely monitor staff, material, plant and other resources on site.
7. You'll seek out opportunities and challenging practices, planning and approaches where cost savings are identified.
Skills/experience/qualifications
8. Degree qualified in quantity surveying ideally
9. Civils/utility contractor side experience
10. Commercially astute
11. Experience of water/wastewater projects and advantage
12. NEC contract experience desirable
