What does the job role involve?
* Coordinate all aspects of the kitchen to ensure food is prepared to standard and deadlines are met.
* Implement and supervise kitchen control measures, including menus, hygiene, health and safety, staff, cleaning, and waste control.
* Identify and recruit staff within guidelines.
* Supervise and develop staff.
* Order catering supplies.
* Ensure adherence to H.A.C.C.P standards and complete all documentation accurately.
* Complete monthly audits and report findings to the home manager.
* Prepare menus considering content, balance, color, and nutritional value within budget.
* Consult with residents regularly to meet their needs and preferences.
* Prepare special diets as directed by nursing staff.
* Maintain stock levels of food.
* Implement and maintain deep cleaning schedules.
* Carry out monthly stock takes.
* Implement a four-weekly rota.
* Work within budget guidelines.
* Assist in preparing function menus and costing.
* Cooperate with requests from the Home Manager and residents.
* Attend resident/relative meetings when possible.
* Supervise staff according to policies.
* Complete staff personal development reviews.
* Perform any additional duties to meet service needs.
What makes a successful candidate:
* Previous Head Chef experience.
* Experience in a similar sector is advantageous.
* Experience managing a team.
* Knowledge of planning balanced menus.
* Ability to cater for specific dietary needs.
* Good communication skills.
* Ability to prioritize tasks.
* Engage positively with residents and support their interests.
* Work well independently and as part of a team.
