The post holder will join a team of 5 practice nurses and 3 healthcare assistants.
We are looking for approximately 30 hours/week.
Working hours are within a flexible shift pattern between 8.00am and 6.30pm, Monday to Friday. Occasional Saturday work and some weekday evenings until 8pm are required.
Pay rate will depend on prior relevant experience.
Main duties of the job
* Venepuncture (checking request forms, patient ID, equipment, drawing blood, labelling bottles, checking venepuncture site)
* Blood pressure, height & weight measurements
* Smoking status checks
* Urinalysis and processing samples
* Assisting with contraceptive coil fittings
* Completing NHS Health Checks
* Acting as a chaperone for patients when required
* Supporting chronic disease management: assisting with annual checks for patients with diabetes, hypertension, and CHD, including diabetic foot checks
* Seasonal flu vaccinations
* Maintaining confidentiality of patient records and clinical matters
* Promoting effective communication within the team
* Participating in clinical supervision
* Using the IT system (EMIS Web) accurately and consistently
* Contributing to practice audits and service reviews
* Keeping up with mandatory training
* Attending staff meetings and training sessions
* Encouraging self-care and self-management of conditions through health promotion
* Working within practice policies and guidelines, e.g., Infection Control and Chaperoning
* Potential development opportunities in spirometry and wound management
