Job Description
A primary school in West Kirby is looking to appoint a full-time Teaching Assistant for a long-term role starting after Easter.
This is a varied position supporting across two key stages, ideal for an experienced TA with strong curriculum knowledge.
The Role:
1. Morning: Supporting in Year 5 – small group work and classroom support
2. Afternoon: Supporting in Year 1 – focus on phonics and early learning
3. Working closely with teachers to support pupil progress
4. Supporting engagement, behaviour and learning across both age groups
What We’re Looking For:
5. Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant
6. Strong curriculum knowledge, particularly in KS2
7. Phonics experience (essential for KS1 support)
8. Confident behaviour management
9. Adaptable and able to move between key stages
10. Reliable and proactive approach
This role requires someone who can confidently switch between KS2 and KS1, providing consistent and effective support throughout the day.

Teaching, Learning or Classroom Assistants are now vital resources for teachers and are heavily relied upon in schools.

As a teaching assistant you’ll be expected to:
28. Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
29. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
30. Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
31. Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
32. Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
