Job Vacancy - Assistant Hospitality Operations Manager
Location - Alexandria (Loch Lomond)
Salary - £27644 - £29959 subject to experience

Client seeks to appoint an experienced Assistant Hospitality Operations Manager (AHOM) to assist the management team. This is not a live-in role and you will need your own transport to get to work. The role involves supporting catering to members, conferences and events, weddings, and other functions while upholding service standards and the reputation of the team.

The normal hours for this full-time position are 35 per week, operating 5 days over 7 including evenings and weekends.


Responsibilities

* Assist the Manager to implement business development strategies and operational plans for catering to members, conferences and events and special occasions (e.g. weddings) to generate income while enhancing client experience and the University’s reputation.
* Deliver an excellent catering service through great food and customer service; provide a warm welcome to members, clients and visitors.
* Liaise with departmental colleagues; delegate work to ensure all areas are adequately resourced; monitor catering areas to ensure service standards are met.
* Monitor operational performance and efficiencies; implement actions to achieve budgeted targets and KPIs; advise on promotional activity and changes as required.
* Assist with compliance of all food & drink legislation, university policies and procedures (health and safety, COSHH, manual handling, customer service; fire detection maintenance, recording and testing).
* Develop and operate relevant software (e.g., Kinetics, SharePoint Bookings, Calendar entries) relevant to job role.
* Support management and delivery of all Hospitality and Bar Services in liaison with managers, chefs, coordinators, external contacts and colleagues.
* Undertake the Annual Development Review (ADR) process and mentor relevant Campus and operational team members.
* Assist with recruitment, induction, training and development of operational catering staff; act as first line contact for sickness absence, holidays and performance issues for the team.
* Assist with staff payroll records, budgeting, and financial administration; maintain stock levels and order supplies for bar, wine and catering.
* Contribute to member offers to provide value for membership and promote services to enhance the department’s reputation.
* Perform other reasonable duties, including deputising and representing management in their absence.
* Driving and a full driving licence are essential due to the remote location and variable shifts; out-of-hours attendance may be required for burglar and fire alarm activations and staff transport using the supplied vehicle.
* Overnight sleeping arrangement to cover residents’ emergency cover during managers’ absences (shared with others).


Requirements

* Experience as an Assistant Manager or recent Assistant Manager experience with strong business and financial awareness.
* Experience managing teams within intimate hotel settings.
* Ability to get involved in all aspects of operations and contribute to the strengths of the existing team.
* Must have a driving licence and access to own transport.
