An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), to work within Royal Cornhill Hospital with adults with Learning Disabilities. This opportunity will provide specialist experience in two different clinical units. Strathbeg Ward is an all‑male forensic unit and Loirston Ward is an acute mixed‑gender admissions unit. The Occupational Therapy team comprises of qualified Occupational Therapists and Healthcare Support Workers. The applicant would work closely with Nursing colleagues and other members of the Multi‑Disciplinary Team.
The applicant would be expected to deliver Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment using a person‑centred approach, in both one‑to‑one and group sessions within the hospital and community settings. We are looking for an innovative creative thinker that is willing to initiate change and contribute to future service developments within a small supportive established team. Regular supervision and support will be provided, as will the opportunity to develop through the use of annual appraisal and personal development plans. There is a well‑established Mental Health & Learning Disability Services Band 5 Occupational Therapy Development Group, providing an opportunity for peer support. Newly qualified Occupational Therapists would also be supported through the Occupational Therapy Preceptorship Programme.
A driving licence is required for this post and access to a car is advantageous. Flexible working, including evening and weekend work may be required to meet service demands. At interview applicants will be asked to produce their continuing professional development portfolio of evidence to support their application.
