About the Opportunity
Amentum is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Piping Engineer for our Energy sector. The department supports UK nuclear fleet projects, including new build, generation, life extension, and decommissioning. The role involves developing technical capabilities, building stakeholder relationships, and delivering engineering solutions in regulated environments.
The engineer will be involved in design reviews, calculations, technical advice, and refurbishment projects, ensuring compliance with HSSE standards. The position offers flexibility and may be based in Newcastle, Warrington, Gloucester, Bristol, or Knutsford.
Key Responsibilities
* Participate in project delivery from bid to commissioning
* Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams on high-profile projects
* Own technical challenges and develop strategies with stakeholders
* Produce and review design documentation and reports
* Apply standards and regulatory requirements in engineering designs
* Simplify complex problems and foster relationships
Qualifications
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
* Chartered or working towards Chartership with IMechE or similar
* Knowledge of mechanical standards and regulations
* Experience with pressure vessels, pipework (ASME code), lifting and crane codes
* Familiarity with piping simulation tools like Caesar II or AutoPIPE is advantageous
* Understanding of civil nuclear plant systems and design guidelines
* Self-motivated with collaborative and innovative mindset
