A bit about the job:
This role exists to ensure the performance, integrity, and security of Aviva’s databases.
You’ll be joining our Tech Platforms team, a collaborative group responsible for supporting the backbone of our digital infrastructure.
You’ll design, implement, and maintain database systems, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and secure.
You’ll m onitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required .
You’ll p erform database backups and recovery procedures, including disaster recovery tests alongside troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues in a timely manner .
You’ll c reate and maintain documentation related to database configurations, processes, and procedures.
You’ll also work closely with developers and IT teams to optimize database solutions and support business-critical applications.
Some out-of-hour's work support needed, including evenings and weekends, will be required to support production deployments and general system maintenance.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
* Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.
* In-depth knowledge of database management systems (DBMS), especially PostgreSQL and SQL Server. DB2 would be an advantage.
* Strong understanding of database design, implementation, and maintenance.
* Experience with database performance tuning and optimization alongside familiarity with database backup and recovery procedures.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with strong communication and collaboration skills

* Salary Circa: £45,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
