Overview
We are looking for a Ward Clerk to join Ward 10 Frailty Unit, supporting two areas of the ward. The successful candidate will be welcoming and act as the focal point of administrative communications for the Ward, taking all telephone enquiries, personal callers/visitors and directing patients where necessary.
The shift is Monday to Friday, 7:30 hours a day.
Responsibilities
* Provide a courteous, efficient and professional ward clerk service to support patient care from time of admission, transfer or discharge. Be the first contact point for all ward visitors and for members of the multidisciplinary team; demonstrate good interpersonal skills.
* Work to ensure the ward operates smoothly, handling a varying workload in what can be a fast-paced, pressurized environment. Be self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a busy team with deadlines.
Qualifications and Skills
* Well-organised, enthusiastic individuals who can work within a dynamic team and contribute to delivering care to a high standard.
* Previous NHS clerical experience is desirable; administrative and keyboard skills are advantageous.
* Excellent telephone manner; able to deal efficiently with members of the public and all hospital staff.
* Flexibility and methodical approach to workload, with good communication/interpersonal skills.
