The Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Criminal Duty Solicitor to join the firm’s busy criminal law department. The successful candidate will handle a broad range of criminal defence work, including:
* Police station representation
* Magistrates’ and Crown Court advocacy
* Legal aid and privately funded cases
* Case preparation and client liaison
* Representation in bail applications, trials, and sentencing hearings
You’ll be expected to manage your own caseload, maintain duty solicitor accreditation, and contribute to the team’s growth through excellent client care and advocacy.
The Candidate:
We are seeking a qualified solicitor with current Duty Solicitor status. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
* Strong advocacy and case preparation skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
* A proactive and resilient approach to criminal defence work
* Ability to manage a busy and varied caseload
* Familiarity with legal aid processes and criminal procedure rules
* Willingness to participate in the out-of-hours rota
Salary: £45,000 – £65,000 DOELocation: OxfordWorking Arrangement: Office-based with flexibility available
