Job description Our apprenticeship is geared toward training the next generation of fully‑fledged Service Technicians/Mechanics.
But what does a Service Technician/Mechanic do?
Service Technicians/Mechanics service and repair light vehicles such as cars up to
3.5 tonnes.
Service Technicians/Mechanics are trained in all areas of vehicle mechanics and electronics, from engine and exhaust systems to air conditioning and security features.
The duties of a Service Technician/Mechanic may include:
* Servicing vehicles – carrying out checks and maintenance according to the manufacturers’ guidelines.
* Repairing and replacing faulty parts and components.
* Advising the Service Receptionists about required repairs.
* Producing time estimates.
* Maintaining repair and service records.
Please note, the Service Technician/Mechanic role varies slightly by employer based upon the specific needs within the location.

Qualifications required
* GCSE grades 9–4 (A or C) or equivalent in English, Maths and two other subjects.
* In Scotland: Scottish National 5 Grades A, C or above in English, Maths and either a Science or Technical subject. Equivalent grades include BTEC first diplomas and certificates, OCR Nationals Key Skills Level 2, NVQs Essential Skills (Wales), Functional Skills Level 2, Core Skills (Scotland). We accept predicted grades and conditional offers can be made based on predicted grades.
Personal qualities
We are looking for people with an interest in engineering and technology to thrive in this role.
While full technical training will be provided, desired skills include problem solving, attention to detail and an aptitude for applied logic.
